MODULE DISCRIPTION:

There has been a fundamental shift in the world’s economy where national economies were once self contained, now cross boarder business activities and economies are much more inter-dependent of each other.

This module brings together elements of the global business environment beginning with lectures that are designed to further develop the student’s awareness of the global business environment and critically evaluate it through the use of applied business tools and techniques which will contribute to the strategic decision making process of an organisation.
Case studies will be used to develop the student’s awareness and explore good and bad practices within the business process, content and context.

Demonstrate the ability to connect the theory and practice of strategy, marketing, Project management, Human Resource management and Entrepreneurship with other academic and work disciplines.

The module will focus on the development of a global business of which students will be asked to consider all the elements contained therein, such as:#p#分页标题#e#
Strategy and risk; risk taking behaviour; creative and Innovation; tolerance of uncertainty, failure as a stimulus to enterprise; personal entrepreneurship and its synergy to corporate objectives.
The development of project management skills and there application, project development and the planning process, the understanding of project cycles and there impact in relation to developing global strategies.
The understanding of International trade, Strategies and structures of International business. And the Global trade Environment.

TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGY
The module is built around the concept of an exploratory and experiential learning process which integrates theoretical knowledge of Business management, entrepreneurship, venture creation and growth with practical learning experiences. Students will apply these concepts through working on the exploration of an established business. Live and interactive case studies and guest speakers will be used to demonstrate academic theory in practice demonstrating business impact and sector awareness. Action and work based learning methods are encouraged in the exploration of business opportunities.
Resource based learning is used to provide a range of readings, business tools, cases and related material

Students will prepare an individual portfolio consisting of two assignments over the length of this module showing evidence of formal and informal approaches. Students should reflect on their own development and will be asked to demonstrate their understanding of the module by firstly critically evaluating an organisation through a given/chosen case study and applying their knowledge gained in the lectures and tutorials.

For Issues in Global business and consultancy two, students will have to apply these concepts to a real organisation of their choice and develop their own case study. It should be supported by theoretical models, to include such areas as; Innovation, Entrepreneurship, developing global strategies, managing change and international marketing etc. The practical application of Knowledge and the ability to develop future strategies to a case study is important here; supported by research methods and analysis to inform recommendations and conclusions.#p#分页标题#e#

On-line students will be expected to be assessed in the same way as Campus-based students.
Where group work is required, on-line students will be expected to carry out their assignment based on an individual piece of work as for campus-based students that require to work individually.
