Currently death punishment has been abolished in so many nations. Even like this, more than 60% of the world’s population is still living in the environment with death punishment. Death Punishment should be abolished 

People who believed that death punishment should be abolished have following reasons:

First in the history of human being, death punishment has been abolished in so many nations. For example from 747 to 759, ancient China abolished this punishing way. From 818 to 1156, death punishment has been abolished in Japan. In 1395, the Twelve Conclusions of the Lollards has stated that death punishment should be ended; Grand Duke Leopold II issued the 1st modern abolition. In 1849, death punishment has been banned in Roman Republic. This means the benefits of abolition death punishment has been identified even by our forefathers. Along with the social development, it should be accepted and acknowledged by all of us.

 

Secondly death punishment is not only cruel, but also inhuman and degrading. For Amnesty International, deal punishment is seen as "the ultimate denial of Human Rights" in the mind of Amnesty International. Just as the famous legal scholar, Moses Maimonides’ statement, if execution an accused criminal not on absolute certainty might lead to slippery slope. All human being has the natural right to live into this world. Deal penalty might be used as excuses to infringe other people’s lives and harm their basic human right. For example in the Great Terror time of Soviet, over 1 million ordinary citizens have been executed death punishment. In Cultural Revolution time of China, there were also so many ordinary people those have been executed death punishment. Thirdly observing the current application situation of death punishment, it can be found that most developed countries have abolished death punishment; and only the poor and authoritarian country and regime still promise death punishment existing. This implies that abolishment of death punishment is one trend which cannot be stopped in the history of human being. Along with the time development and social progress, it is the final result. 

Death Punishment should not be abolished 

 

People, who do not support death punishment abolishing, also have their own reasons. Tracing the history of death punishment, even in the beginning stage of recorded history, this punishment existed. Death punishment has come to be one part of justice system. In ordinary crime situation, ordinary punishment approaches can be enough to deter and punish the criminals, but toward the seriously and extremely bad criminal behaviors, death punishment must be utilized.  

 

What is more, whether death punishment should be deleted? This is a complicate question which involves complicated background, such as the special culture, education level, common citizens’ attitude, social value etc. If the chance is not mature enough, extinction of death punishment will produce more harm not good. 

Thirdly thinking about the extinction of death punishment from the other aspect, whether death punishment being abolished means the social becomes more civilized and developed? This cannot be agreed by any of us. If extinction the death punishment, victim and his or her family might feel unequal; law and regulation should not be the religious dogma. It should define forgive and forgetting as the main objective. It must have certain social deterrent force, the moral baseline, punishment correspond with guilty and duty. If some people can freely deprive some other’s life, he or she must undertake the equal punishment. 

 

Death Punishment should be abolished. 

Currently so many countries have abolished the death punishment. According to the statistic of Amnesty International, until 2011, there were only 21 countries those still utilized this punishment approach. For the author of this paper, this predicates one trend that extinction of death punishment is an inevitable. But it should be realized step by step. This means it is not one thing being finished an overnight. It is one process from top to bottom. Each nation will do it according to its own specific situation. Although criminals freely take off other people’s life, as a human being, we should not give the same treatment to him or her, since it does not bring the social development; just make the society be slow down.
