Criteria for Assessment
Remember the Learning Outcomes of this course:
On completion of the course, students should be able to:
Understand and evaluate the increasing importance of the concept of value as a means to securing competitive advantage in the 21st century workplace.
Research and critically analyse current concepts relating to creating and managing value, with practical reference and application to the work environment.
Thus within your assignment, you must be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and be able to critically evaluate and apply, relevant theories and concepts to examples of "real life" organisational situations.
The assignment requires a combination of the theoretical and the practical sides of the course. Students who just describe their chosen organisation and its current activities, without critically evaluating the situation, will not gain high marks. I will naturally expect to see evidence of wider reading and some good references which are used appropriately to support your arguments. Please note that the rules on plagiarism outlined in your 3Rs document will be strictly applied: you must cite all your sources and you must not pass off someone else’s work/words as your own. Note also that whilst poor grammar/spelling can be forgiven in an exam context, it may be penalised if found in your coursework.
To do the assessment properly, you will need to draw upon the theoretical content of the module. Please note that students who merely regurgitate conceptual material at the expense of any empirical application will fare poorly. The reverse also, of course, applies.#p#分页标题#e#
Assignment Launch Tutorial – the Executive Summary
Hi all
It is possible in the odd tutorial I may have omitted to discuss the role of the executive summary in your business report assignment – here are the key points:
An Executive Summary (ES) should probably not exceed 1 side of A4 paper.
It is not part of the word count
It should summarise the task/objectives, the organisation, explain the methods to be used, and summarise findings/conclusions/recommendations without “giving the game away.”
It should be written LAST and be inserted in the report immediately after the title and contents pages.
It is good business practice.
Use it to check HONESTLY that your work is an accurate reflection of the assignment task that is required of you – if is not, then it has served as a “last chance saloon checking mechanism” for you – so amend your work accordingly!
Regards
Nick Turner
