As the strengthening of economic globalization, the late 20th century and early 21st century, the rapid growth of foreign multinational investment has become an international economic phenomenon. Followed the pace of accession to the World Trade Organization, many firms began implementing the "going out" strategy, many firms have investments in others countries, Since 1979, the government of China signed the first agreement of foreign direct investment in China, the FDI in China increased very quickly, many countries became invest in China, the FDI in China also increased every year, the amount of foreign investment in China was 105.73billion $, increased 17.44% compare to 2009. The mainly countries that invest in China are Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, the United States, South Korea, United Kingdom. Actually, many multination corporate became enter into market of China, and invest in China, such as YUM!, IBM,HP. they consider the important market of China, some companies even consider the China’s market as the mainly strategic investment. Although the investment in China is a difficult period, but some companies benefit to the investment in China.
Yum Brands is the world's largest restaurant group in the restaurant network. More than 100 countries around the world with more than 34,000 chain restaurants and 850,000 employees. Its brands include KFC、Pizza Hut、Taco Bell、A & w and Long John Silver's (LJS) of five world-renowned restaurant brands,at cooking chicken, pizza, Mexican food and seafood restaurant chain area ranked first. Yum Brands is the first in the world catering industry; restaurant industry is the world's leading multi-brand collection, among the list of the world's five hundred companies. The mission and strategy of Yum as follow: Yum! Brands are committed to continuing the success realized during our first ten years. Our success has only just begun as we look forward to the future, one which promises a long runway for growth, especially on an international level. Due to the firm recognize the China market, for the development of business in China, Yum Brands in China was built in Shanghai 1993, and it was in the international department of Yum Brands. With the continuous expansion of its business, in early 2005, the Chinese Yum Yum China eventually promoted to division, is a global restaurant group Yum Division 5 which is one of the largest restaurant group. At the end of 2010, the Yum in China brands has more than 2000KFC, more than 300Pizza Hut, more than 40 Pizza Hut home delivery restaurants. 10 Oriental white and five Taco Bell restaurant in more than 400 cities, and more than 150,000 employees, the company was named in the first place in the China’s catering business for many years. Yum Restaurants Group is the global growth rate in some of the most rapidly.
Actually the YUM has long recognize the important market of China, since it entered into the China, it considers as the one of the five divisions of group, In 2009, the China Division achieved revenues of $3.7 billion and Operating Profit of $602 million. The operation profit of China accounting to the 37.86% of the total operation profit, the revenues of China accounting to the 34.14% of revenues. So the China division is not only provide the largest revenues and profit to the YUM, but also it has a largest market shares in China. Particularly the consumer power of China become more and more larger, the dining will have a good future, so it may become more and more important to the YUM. So the YUM took investment strategic, to achieve the strategy of YUM in China, the financial objective is: Firstly, China operating profit growth of 15%, driven primarily by: Secondly, double-digit percentage growth in units; thirdly, system sales growth of at least 12%; fourthly, same-store-sales growth of at least 4% ; fifthly, moderate G&A leverage.
In this paper, I will mainly research the above strategy objective and financial objective of Yum’s strategy investment in China, and its impact to the shareholders, staffs, customers and social environment
1.2The objective and aim of paper
The objective of this paper is to research the business and financial objectives of a strategic investment decision made by an organization and its impact on key stakeholders through research the YUM took the investment strategic in China, then we can learn from how to take the right investment strategic and how to impact the stakeholder(completer, shareholders, government and so on), so we can coordinate the benefit of stakeholders when firm make investment strategic decision.
1.3Context and structure of paper
This paper mainly research the business and financial objectives of a strategic investment decision made by an organization and its impact on key stakeholders, and mainly research the YUM China, the investment strategic investment of YUM in China. Firstly i will have a instruction and describe the background of research, the objective and context of paper, the methodology of this paper; secondly, research the external environment of investment, includes China Macro environment, industry environment and competitors. Thirdly, the internal environment, includes company culture and staff training development, staff structure and competitiveness, turn overturn and KFC business. Fourthly illustrate Strategy investment decisions in China. Fifthly, evaluate the Strategy investment decision impact to stakeholders, incorporate SWOT analysis. 1.4methodology
This part mainly describes the research methods, I will research case study, compare analysis, experts consultants, data analysis and so on.
Literatures methods is also named history literature methods, collect and analysis a lot of all existing relevant literatures, and choice the information to achieve a certain research aims. In this paper, I mainly collect the literature about the organization structure, the organization structure of banks and organization structure of commercial banks in China. Then I will do some research basic on these previous literatures.
Compare analysis is compare to the objective things, in order to recognize the nature and law of things, and make the right appraise. It always compare to the relative index, describe and presents the scale, level and speed of research objects, in the compare analysis, choice the suitable index is very important, only has a right choice, then have a appropriate and objective appraisal. In this paper, I will compare the organization structure of commercial banks in China to the foreign banks and seek the similar and difference, the most important is to find the disadvantage of organization structure of state-own commercial banks in China, then improve it.
Case study is a important research method to research the firm problems, it mainly may research the problems in practice, analysis the problems, what make the problems happen, how to solve the problems or the advantage of this case, what we can learn form this case. Now case study become popular in the business study, it very practical. In this paper, I also apply the case study; I will take some example of commercial banks in China, describe the organization structure of these banks, then find the advantage and disadvantage of organization structure of state-own commercial banks in China.
Expert consultation is consultant the experts, due to the experts know the relative knowledge, it includes research methods, research ideals and some conclusions. In this paper I will consultant some experts, particularly my tutor and some bankers.
Due to this paper will research the investment strategic of YUM in China, so the data of YUM is important, I collect the information from the website of firm, the annual report of YUM.
