Basically, the Undergraduate Pathway Program in Colorado State University is a good opportunity for international students like me to prepare for potential challenges(in terms of language, academic and culture) inthe upcoming undergraduate study in CSU. To make this 9-month event meaningful and fruitful, I made this study plan as a guide for the pathway program. This plan can be categorized into three sections, as discussed below.

To improve my English language为了提高我的英语

As a result, it is essential for students to understand and use English without major difficulties. As a non-native speaker, I started my English learning journey at an age of 10. However, my current English level has not met the requirement of CSU undergraduate study. For this reason, I’ll make use of every single chance to enhance my English language. More specifically, I’ll accomplish all the assignments and essays on time and prepare for all the presentations and group discussions.#p#分页标题#e#

To develop essential academic skills and abilities制定基本学术技能和能力

Besides English, academic skills and abilities are also essential for the undergraduate study. My high school study was in a typical Chinese high school, where teachers tried their best to deliver whatever they know to students and all we have to do is to follow instructions from teachers and do whatever we are told to do. This may not be a bad way for high school students who are teenagers with weak self-motivation capability. However, this does not work for undergraduate studies in US. In undergraduate studies, students have to make effective online searches for assignments, plan their own timetable and follow it without close supervision, and get useful information from e-mails and public announcements from the authorities. Therefore, I’ll try my best to establish the capability of self-motivation develop these skills and abilities during the pathway program.

To mingle with local American students and other international students与当地的美国学生和其他国际学生交流

Apart from English and academic skills, inter-personal skills are also essential for undergraduate students. Due to the huge cultural difference between China and US, cultural shock and homesick are nearly inevitable for freshmen. In addition, I spent my last 18 years with my parents in my hometown and the first few months abroad shall not be easy. Therefore, it is necessary for us to mingle with localstudents and other international students. Fortunately, the pathway program provides us with opportunities to live and learn withAmerican and other international students. Also, we may join the local communities and clubs in the university. By making friends with local students, I can get familiar with American culture and understand the way they think and talk; by making friends with otherinternational students, I can learn more about different cultures and have friends that I can share my joys and sorrows with. #p#分页标题#e#
