简介：该剧是一部在田纳西州诺克斯维尔设置的喜剧。它描述了五个不同的女人躲在梅瑞狄斯房间（新娘的妹妹）逃到婚礼中的伴娘。尽管他们之间有不同之处在她们彼此交谈后，却发现他们有很多的共同之处。最后，五个女人成了朋友。

过渡部分：有喜剧中的许多主题，如不安全感、友谊、贪食、懒惰、嫉妒、贪婪、欲望、愤怒、骄傲。不过，我想主要谈的是关于友情的主题。

Introduction: The play is a comedy set in Knoxville, Tennessee. It describes that five different women who refuge in the room of Meredith (the sister of the bride) to escape to be the bridesmaids during the wedding reception. After talking with each other, they, despite the differences between them, find they have more commons with each other. Finally, the five women become friends.

Transitional part: there are many themes in the comedy, such as insecurity, friendship, gluttony, sloth, jealous and greed, lust, anger, and pride. However, I want to mainly talk about the theme of friendship. 

THESIS: After reading the Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, I concluded that the establishment of friendship is based on communication and then commons between people.

I. The characters talk with each sincerely in the wedding.

II. After communication, they find that they have more commons than differences. 

A. All the characters are not willing to appear in the wedding ceremony.

B. None of them are satisfied with their life due to their personalities and personal experiences.

Conclusion: the establishment of friendship is based on communication and commons between people.

 

An Analysis of the Drama of Five Women Wearing the Same Dress

This drama is set in Knoxville, Tennessee where the home of Tracy is located in. At the wedding, five very different women who are invited to be the bridesmaids meet with each other. However, none of them is willing to be the bridesmaids because they all hateto be part of the wedding. During the wedding reception, they find a refuge in the room of Meredith, the bride’s sister. After a while, they begin to drink and talk with each other heart to heart, which makes them get to know each other better and realize that they have more commons with each other than the differences. Consequently, the happy ending is that these five women become friends. #p#分页标题#e#

Although there are many themes in the drama, such as insecurity, friendship, gluttony, sloth, jealous and greed, lust, anger, and pride. However, I want to mainly talk about the theme of friendship.

After reading Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, I conclude that the establishment of friendship is based on communication and then commons between people. In the following, I will present my evidences to support my stance.

The first step that lead to them to become friends in the end is communication. Due to the reason that they are not willing to be bridesmaids for Tracy, they refuse to appear during the wedding reception. Accidentally, they get together in the room of Meredith, and share their personal feelings and stories as they drink. From the reunion, they come to know each other better, which is the foremost step to establish the friendship between them.

After a heart-to-heart communication, they find that they have more commons with each other than differences. Before discussing the commons they have, I want to analyze the personal information of the characters first.

Frances- She, one of Tracy’s cousins, is very pure and innocent in her heart and mind, which is related to her life’s experiences. She has never exposed herself to drugs, cigarettes and boys so that she seems to be an alien when taking part in the wedding recreational activities. However, she falls in love with the environment and get along well with other bridesmaids. 

 

Meredith Marlowe- She is Tracy’s sister. She dislikes the wedding ceremony so that she isn’t willing to be a bridesmaid. Therefore, for most of the time during the wedding ceremony, she just hides herself in her room, smoking and drinking. Eventually, it can be seen that she just pretends to be tough on the surface for her insecurities in her inner world.

 

Trisha- She is Tracy’s friend. For suffering from a bad luck with men, she no longer believes in relationships. Therefore, to protect herself, she is against marriage.

 

Georgeanne Darby- She is also Tracy’s friend. She doesn’t want to be a part of the wedding because Tracy’s boyfriend got her pregnant before.

 

Mindy McClure- The groom’s sister. She is clumsy and opinionated who is only comfortable in herself and tries to keep away from the relatives, which makes her unpopular among her relatives. This is why she is not willing to appear in the wedding reception.

 

From the above analysis, it can be informed that the five women have commons in the following respects: they are not willing to appear in the wedding ceremony; they all have bad personal experiences that make them unsatisfied with their life.

 

To conclude, the drama tells us a truth that the establishment of friendship is based on communication and commons between people. Consequently, in our life, to make genuine friends, it is necessary for us to communication with the potential friends and then to find out commons with them.#p#分页标题#e#
