We can dig out the news whatever and whenever and wherever it happen through the TV ,radio and blooming media tool – Internet. Also we can learn a lot of interesting things to amplify our daily life. But on the other side , People tend to selectively read what they already agree with and to rationalize their preformed opinions in the face of contrary arguments.

The mass media is changing the thinking and behaviors of the people potentially. In the following,I will discuss detailed different media ‘s effects on the society from both positive and negative.
 

Main body
 

The mass media have an important role in modern democratic society as the main channel of communication. any selection of messages in the mass media will thus have a profound effect on the entire society. Different media tool have their own ways and influences.

Paper works

People inquire the news and information from the papers like newspapers, magazines, paper AD is still one of the common things of most people. People rely on those papers to get to know the things of the world . For most people from China may be in the whole world, reading the newspaper every morning had become a habit . We would like to learn what happened in this world through this papers, but we had neglected that we choose to read those kinds of comments which we convince ourselves to believe. For example, one newspaper in front of you contain a lot of different kind of things ,we would like to read part of you are interested in or the comments of the journalist you are agreed with. Something you are not care and some opinions which against your believe will slip under your eyes. We would also get angry with some arguments which are opposite with our own mind and risk our profit.

Not many people realize it is the effects of the media. The form of our thinking was largely influenced by one voice of the opinion, we stand on one side just as the media is . The journalist and the author write the affairs also on the one side of the voice , they totally unable not to take their own opinions into what they wrote. So there will be different kinds of comments refer to the same affair. Some stand by ,some criticize and some approve , they can find different readers to advocast them. And their continued broadcast will influence their reader to some extend. We can’t say it is a positive or negative effects to our life style would be changed by the media ,But indeed the mass media give our a lot of convenience and useful information . TV and Radios

There is no doubt that watching television and movies can influence the way that people behave. Moreover, it seems that people are spending more and more time watching some sort of visual entertainment, whether it is television, a video tape or a DVD. Therefore, the effects of visual media cannot be ignored.

The TV is another source that we can

learn from about lands far away, people, and places. You can sit in your

living room while visiting Europe, Asia, or even Australia. Television is

a huge influence on our daily lives, as shown by how much time is spent

staring at its screen.

One obvious effect of the these media is that watching them induces people to buy certain products. television advertising is widespread and, nowadays, even movie theaters permit advertisements. The advertisement especially the vision ads give more mind hint to the consumer .Even though the consumer knows clearly that there must be some elaboration of the products is ,they still prefer to choose it in front of the goods shelf. Mostly often , when it appears as the new recommend.

Another way TV and the movies affect people is that they give people either a broader view of the world or a distorted one, depending on what type of program they watch. Those who watch news and educational program can learn many new things . The obvious advantage the TV is that they can give the audience the straight impression through it’s vivid pictures and hi-fi audio. It can stressen the impression to people especially to young children. While those who watch primarily entertainment shows may come to believe that most people in the world possess great wealth and good looks. It may make them become dissatisfied with their own lives. The TV shows sometimes can be a fashion in the whole society to effects a lot of aspects of the people. For instance ,the China TV show :Super Girls is the best example. Which is said to be inspired by the US show "American Idol." The program attained giant success and influence this year. In the basic essence ,it just a singer choosing game. Absolutely, the show is a wonderful planet for those girls with the dreams to become a singer star. But who knows they really become the most shining stars at that years. Actually ,most common people seeking the saticifactory from those candidates. They try to accomplish their own dreams of being famous from those common girls. So they totally enroll themselves into this mass media when the game is completely connecting with the mobile message voting.The show proves the emerging new media age makes instant fame possible, just as Andy Warhol predicted: “In the future, everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes.” At now more “Super Girls” have emerged since, with their excellent singing skills receiving wide recognition from the show’s young audience. since nearly everyone of us has the potential longing to be fame. All those kind of TV programs give the people the space to dream and imagine ,and provide the chance to attain their dreams , but on the other side ,those extremely well shown things also would smack the imagination since we are still living in the reality.#p#分页标题#e#

Finally, perhaps the most susceptible viewers are children, who may be unable to tell fact from fiction and may try to imitate acts that they see on TV or in the movies.The more a child believes that television reflects reality, the more he or she will be influenced by it. And they are voulnable and with curiosity, They’d like to copy a lot of things they think it’s cool from the TV, Whatever it is bad or good. Among in ,The  TV violence is the hot topic in recent years. It is the television, and the children who view it are often pulled into its realistic world of violence scenes with sometimes devastating results. Violent television viewing does affect children. The effects have been seen in a number of cases. In New York, a 16-year-old boy broke into a cellar. When the police caught him and asked him why he was wearing gloves he replied that he had learned to do so to not leave fingerprints and that he discovered this on television. In China, a lot of adolescence involved in suicide ,not alone the numbers of youth involved into smoking even druging. These are certainly startling examples of how television can affect the child. It must be pointed out that all of these situations were directly caused by children watching violent television.

“Children do imitate the behavior of models such as those portrayed in television, movies, etc. They do so because the ideas that are shown to them on television are more attractive to the viewer than those the viewer can think up himself” (Brown 98). Television violence can destroy a young child’s mind. The effects of this violence can be long-lasting, if not never-ending. For some, television at its worst, is an assault on a child’s mind, an insidious influence tat upsets moral balance and makes a child prone to aggressive behavior as it warps his or her perception of the real world. Perhaps the most important way to prevent children from watching television violence is to stop it where it starts. The parents should step in and turn the set off when a violent program comes on. The parents are the child’s role models from which he learns. If he can learn at an early age that violence on television is bad, then he can turn the set off for himself when he is older. Education should start at home.

      Radio is important, but is not used as frequently anymore due to the birth of television. We hear the news and can listen to different

opinions of controversial subjects. Millions of families used to gather around the radio to listen to dramas, light comedies, variety shows, live music, and other programs. However, people can communicate a lot more quickly between any two points either on land, at sea, in the sky, or also in space, with the use of the radio. Politically, the radio made it possible for the people to be informed about government policies directly.

      Television and radio have, obviously, been a huge influence on our lives. Television has increased our knowledge of the world and our surrounding neighbors along with our interest of the earth. We know more about products that are offered to us, the public. The radio has done all this also. It also provides us with music and talk shows. Radio and television are not bad unless we make ourselves bad. Television and radio have changed the way we look at the world.#p#分页标题#e#

Internet as the new media tool is invading the life of the people rapidly. They are changing the life style and ways of thinking of the society. Millions of people worldwide are using the Internet to share information, make new associations and communicate. Individuals and businesses, from students and journalists, to consultants, programmers and corporate giants are all harnessing the power of the Internet. Undoubtly , Internet is the most rapid way to scatter the information at now.

From the positive side , The Internet can allow people to gain positions and gain friends that they would never otherwise have the chance to in real life. And it is really a library to deal with different information inquirer, It gives people more convenience to look up everything they want to know just in front of the computer, and also do good to the international business work. They can avoid information delay and exchange their ideas more free and straight. And in recent year, net shopping has coming to be a popular. It really save time for those busy officers and gain the profit for this net shop owners. But there are too many information living in this colorful net world. We must make our clear to recognize the real, useful, healthy information.

But the internet still have the negative influence. There are some many unreal , fake information exist in the net world. Some people even make use of the internet as a tool to risk the criminal. The music & movie downloading is the example. It is a illegal behavior. They are stealing the fruit of the music and movie company and would break the market balance to some extend. And more seriously ,the abuse use of internet would broken the normal relation of people get along in our really life. Since people will act in certain ways and say something they otherwise don’t do in their real life, Further more, the internet provide much more freedom to every single person, they can express whatever they think. But on the other side ,they would like to invade whatever they are originally unbelieve and against. Those voices will destroy the cleaning environment of net world. And some serious rumor even arose the panic and dirty the fame of some innocent people. At nowdays , the largest user of the internet still the youth people. According to the data, those young people are spending more and more time on the internet everyday. Never methion they abandon the time that should be spend on the sports , sleeping and normal communication with friends and family. Over addicted to the internet not only weaks their physical health but also their mental power. They try to perfect their looking by the pretending and cheating. Those will guide the youth into the wrong way.

The Internet is here to stay, and it's really up to us how it affects society. It has allowed people from all over the world to express their ideas, communicate and have fun. It has allowed minority groups much more power than they have in real life. There are many changes to society because of the Internet; whether they enhance or ruin our life is up to us.#p#分页标题#e#
 

Conclusion
 

From the above discussion, it is found that the mass media living in this world as different forms and types. They can express themselves through the papers, TV ,radio ,internet and so on. Although the media is a kind of tool controlling the society ,it also rely on the society to exist. They are both tightly connected with each other. Media is influencing the way of people talking , thinking and living. Whether the effects is positive or not is totally under the choose of the people themselves. Cause we take the initiative power.
