In current volatile business environment every organization wants to be success in order to achieve through low cost and differentiation strategies. Therefore, the companies are trying to retain competent human capital with them in order to achieve the organizational goals and objectives. To the point, they should be able to create a clear work environment where employees are motivated to do their assigned task on an expected level.
Motivation can be defined as inner drive to behave or act in a certain manner. However it is considered as complex set of forces, starting and keeping a person at work in an organization. (Janakiram, 2010, p.115) where an employee who are in motivated within the work environment always direct to achieve goals and objectives.
The employee performance is totally depend on some of the key factors such as employee motivation, performance appraisal, job satisfaction, T & D, compensation, job security, organizational culture etc. On the other hand, paying for the employee may speak on performance of employee which reflect of time, productivity, customer service, creativity, vision, commitment, flexibility, ability to work as part of a team etc. (Julie Lewthwaite, 2007, p.247)
ABC Company was more into Apparel Industry when it was formed in 1990 and their major outlet was started in 1999 with the purpose of making it a tourist destination. Today ABC currently operating a Business model, where they have over 2 million customers, over 900 employees and over 1500 supply partners from German, France, Thailand, India and China. Apart from the retail in business they do export garments to countries such as Europe, Middle East and Maldives. Their main business strategy is to differentiate the product brands among the competitors in the apparel industry.
However the results of pilot survey conducted by a researcher found that ABC Company’s operational employees are highly demotivated to do their tasks and duties, during past few months it drastically impact on their performances as well. The reasons for such outcomes are, not receiving proper salary to the work that they perform, lack of trainings, and no employee recognition and career development opportunities#p#分页标题#e#

The ABC designed various types of garments to the selected target markets where as men, women and kids category separately. Apart from that they are they are associated with some other companies which is mainly selling food and home ware items in their main outlets. The ABC was continuously trying to achieve continuous improvement specially focusing on final output. They have achieved competitive advantage by differentiating their products form quality, innovativeness, customer responsiveness and efficiency.
PROBLEM STATEMENT 问题陈述
There is a significant discussion on how far organization able to motivate their employees in order to perform their work productively, to achieve the objectives. High performance of employee is achieved by well- motivated employee who are prepared for succeed effort. However, company like ABC having an issue with carrying on high performance of employees where most of the Apparel companies being in trouble of having demotivation work force. If ABC tends to create motivated environment may speak on how much effort they put on employees to achieve the vision of the organization.
The main issue occurring at the ABC is most of the time not providing required basic motivational tools for the employees to be perform. Therefore, in this research, the following research questions will get answered.
How does various factors within work environment may effect on employee performance?
Does employee motivation have a relationship with employee performance?
How does monetary & non- monetary rewards impact on employee motivation and performance?
However, the research study focus on “Impact of employee motivation on employee performance with reference to ABC company operational level employees”.
The above relationship can be described by following functional relationship as follows.
Employee performance = f (X1, X2, X3, …, Xn)
Whereas X factor(s) (motivational factors) affecting on employee performance and employee performance is the function of X1, X2. X3, ….., Xn.

OBJECTIVES OF THE RESEARCH 研究目标
The following objectives are study on how employee motivation may effect on performance of employees as mentioned below.
To assess the impact of various factors within a work environment which motivate employees to perform.
To examine the relationship between employee motivation and performance of employee.
To study the impact of monetary and non-monetary systems of reward on the employee motivation and performance.
To suggest and recommend to improve employee motivation on order to increase employee performance.
1.4 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESEARCH
The distinguishing the difference between “Motivation and Manipulation” from management point of view understanding is much more important. Because most of the companies practicing manipulation rather motivation where as currently ABC also faced. According to Richard Denny perspective manipulation seems to be getting somebody to do something because you want them to do it; where as motivation is getting somebody to do something because they want to do it.
When it concerns on how to motivate people, in which describes the greatest management principle in the world, and that is,
“You get more of the behavior you reward. You don’t get what you hope for, ask for, wish for or beg for. You get what you reward.”

However, significance of this research was important because ABC quality checking operational level employees are in fact of identified de- motivation level since the performance of those employees got drastically down when it compared to recent times.
The different dimensions of significant of research study can be elaborated on following ways.
Industry- the ABC was into apparel industry where most of the companies which is functioning on particular industry having a problem of carrying de-motivation work staff especially in an operational level. Therefore, studies reveal the impact which it is effects on employee performance where finally ended up with organizational performance. However the results revealed to be pro-active in the business environment and industry.
The ABC view- Identified issues which were faced by the operational level employees to make them perform in better way by offering a suitable motivational tools.
Researcher’s view- To identify the root causes and recommend alternatives.
Reader’s view- this would be an added knowledge in the form of secondary data and a good source of reference.
1.5 SCOPE OF THE RESEARCH
The total employee cadre of ABC Company is over 900 and out of that 50 employees are directly connected with Quality checking operations of Garments. Due to the fact that management has found and recognized that high de-motivation has taken place among operational level of employees in production function which is related to the Quality division.#p#分页标题#e#
The Management argument is since the issue is being functioning in Quality checking division since in long time, the reasons might get change regarding to de-motivation on time to time. Hence the data gather validity will be taken as one year period where it might have possibilities to change into different reasons.
The ABC Company has found out the de-motivation may impact on employee performance especially in the category of quality checking operational level employees. The ABC hierarchy as follows.
The whole employees which attached to the first five levels were excluded and only quality checking operational level employees will get included to avoid the making research study too complex with results.

1.6 LIMITATIONS OF THE RESEARCH
Due to the scope and significance of research topic of “A study on the impact of employee motivation on employee performance special reference to the ABC company operational employees” following reasons were found as limitations of the study.
Research study limited to the Quality checking operational level of employees.
Research study covers with only five variable factors (monetary benefits, employee recognition, training & development, supervision and job security)
Employees reluctant to give information and relevant facts due to the personal issues.
Data gathered from ABC Company production division- quality checking.
The sources of data obtained could be limited due to data secure.
Lack of knowledge and poor understanding towards filling questionnaire.
There are several factors affecting on employee performance, but in this research study only considered on employee motivation.
Therefore, above mentioned limitations can be seen when conducting the research study.
1.7 METHODOLOGY
Sample population
Simple random sampling technique will be used to collect the entities of sample where it gives the equal opportunity to the items to be selected to the sample. Therefore, the ABC company population is considered with 50 employees and sample will contain with 44 operational employees as per according to the research study.
Primary Data
The primary data will gathered through Structured Questionnaires on Likert scale and were distributing among 44 operational employees of ABC Company by using simple random sampling technique and Observations.#p#分页标题#e#
Secondary Data
The secondary data will gathered through Company website, annual report, academic journals, business magazines & other published materials (books), previous research studies and online web sites.
Statistical tools used
Correlation and Regression were used to see the relationship and strength between independent and dependent variable by using SPSS package.
Presentation of Findings (Tools)
To measure the responses on structured questionnaire which was organized on Likert scale were presented through the Tables, Pie charts, Bar graphs, Line graphs and other related technique.

H4 A- There is a relationship between Scope of the job and Employee performance.
H5 0- There is no positive relationship between Job security and Employee performance.
H5 A- There is a positive relationship between Job security and Employee performance.

Explains the data presentation which gathered through questionnaire and then the data analysis were carried out by descriptive, Correlation and Regression analysis. Then hypothesis for the research has been tested and the data are to be presented by the proper tables and graphs.

The findings and conclusions part discusses the findings, limitations of the study then suggestions and recommendations & conclusions.
