Description of Module

There are a number of parts to the assessment of this module and this document lays out the assessment requirements and details the course work assignment tasks.
• Part 1 – Individual Assignment
o Develop an eCommerce web site
o Write a report on the eCommerce Web Site developed 50 marks
This module’s assessment consists of two parts – coursework and written examination. You may work with your fellow students and indeed you will find it helpful to discuss the work with other students, friends or work colleagues.
However you must ensure that the work you submit and of which you claim authorship, is your own and is not unduly derived from other sources. You can use material from other sources and integrate it into your work you must however duly acknowledge in your report the source of such material. If you try to pass off as your own work, work that others have produced, then it is likely that the assignment you submit will not be accepted for assessment or you will be penalised in some way. You also open yourself to allegations of academic plagiarism, which carries heavy penalties.#p#分页标题#e#
Part 1
Part 1.1 Develop an eCommerce Web Site and to write a Report (50 marks)
You need to design, develop, build and test a web site that meets a specific business’s needs. The course teaching team will act as external consultants who you can call on if you need help, support or advice. Students may use Open Source Software eCommerce systems but make it clear it the report that this is the method used to develop the eCommerce system.
The system that you build must be more than just a page-turner that is there must be some form of interactivity and access to a database. This may be through the use of forms to register membership, or accessing a database to provide details of a sales catalogue or to update team membership etc.
You will need to arrange with Bin Hu for the setting up of server space with JSP facility.
Part 1.2 – Write-up
Students are required to write a report that describes the process followed to analyse, design, build and test the eCommerce application. At the end of the report students need to attach their eCommerce Web Site on a single CD-ROM (including the report and user guide).
The Final Report will need to include the following:

More than 70% All parts of the assignment were very well understood and carried out. A well chosen business scenario that allows the development of a business web site that provides clear benefit to the business that has been identified in advance. A well designed system using appropriate design approaches. The eCommerce web site is easy to follow and clearly meets the business objectives. An excellent review of the work undertaken with clear indication of the strengths and weaknesses of the constructed eCommerce Web Site and clear suggestions for improvement or modification. Between 60% and 69% All parts well understood and carried out. Appropriate integration between eCommerce components. Evidence of good time management. Good review of the work also undertaken. A good report written.

Between 40% and 49% All parts attempted. Inappropriate or limited business scenario selected, little evidence of research, poor understanding of the issues raised, no analytical framework, little or no critical appraisal. The eCommerce Web Site may not have been attempted or what is presented is merely a page turner with no attempt at true interactivity.
Between 30% and 39% Some attempt made but very little achieved, major sections missing, misunderstood or inadequately completed. No real attempt at engagement with the subject under discussion.
