近年来留学人数不断增加,留学文书的重要性不断增加,很多留学平台以及dissertation平台推出了大量的写作攻略、写作模板。虽然这些攻略给实际写作带来了很多帮助,但由于使用的人过多,导致很多个人陈述看起来相似,影响申请结果。英国教育看上去非常严谨,注重学生的学术氛围与成就。实际上从今年英国的申请来看,无论是满怀留学梦想的莘莘学子,还是想录取到人才的国外院校教授,都希望能看到一篇严谨,充分展现自己专业学术能力并且有新意的个人陈述。
如何写英国留学个人陈述
如同学术经历一样,我们要先确定学校希望申请者具备什么样的能力。结合申请者本身的工作或者实习经验,寻找两者的交叉点,从交叉点出发,也就是从所收获的技能或者能力出发,将工作经历或者实习经历很好的融入到整个PS中。例如,如果申请者有意申请学校的teaching assistant,那么恰好申请者之前有过助教经历,申请者可以将自己的助教经历中所学到,观察到的,感悟到的写进PS中,让录取官看到申请者的实力与潜力。下面我将对个人成熟具体写作过程的一个全新的阐述。
首先,一个PS不是个人经历散乱的罗列,吸引人的PS需要有一个连贯的主题
主题一定是贯穿全文的,以主题为中心,选择恰当的经历,查看申请者资料的时候,问自己以下问题:这件事例展示了他的那些方面?哪些性格?哪些品质?事例有什么特殊之处?重要性体现在哪?事例怎样让他脱颖而出?用这样的方式,挖掘事例的深度,而不是延伸事例的广度。原因在于,许多录取官发现中国的申请者往往喜欢罗列个人经历,而忽视了经历的细节,不同经历之间缺乏关联,也就是说缺乏一个中心的主题,导致文章散乱、缺乏条理性,自然而然,录取官不想花费时间在这样的PS上
其次,自述的主题和主线可以根据学生某方面的与专业相关的特点或特长来确定,并且将其整个学习生涯中的经历贯穿其中
比如:坚持不懈的精神(如研究类、工程类)、长于与人交流(如市场营销类)、善于观察想象(如设计艺术类)等等,亦可以为学生对专业的特别认识等,比如:世界金融形势给从业者带来的特殊要求(金融类)、中国设计行业所欠缺的品质及应对方法(设计类)、管理者应具备的品质及自身在这些方面所付出的努力与取得的成果(管理类),此外,对于转专业申请的学生,可以拿学生国内所学专业与拟申请专业之间的节点作为文章的主线,比如某学生本科所学专业为英语,欲申请传媒类专业,其节点可以为communication“语言是人与人之间的沟通,媒体是人与团体、团体与社会之间的沟通”。简单的罗列学生的申请理由、专业优势等等很容易使文章如同一盘散沙,难以找到主题,而且容易趋同。毕竟学生经历的区别不会很大,同一个写作者不大可能罗列出太多的特点将一个学生与另一个学生区别开来。#p#分页标题#e#
