You are Head of Risk Management for a large UK bank that takes deposits from many non-UK based corporate, trust and wealthy private individual customers. The CEO has asked you to prepare a briefing memorandum for the new members of the Board of Directors on (a) the legal and regulatory risks that arise under anti money laundering legal provisions to which the bank and its individual employees are potentially exposed through the banks’ day to day operations and (b) how internal controls, reporting and compliance systems have been set up within the bank to counter these risks.
Prepare a briefing document referring, where relevant, to particular laws and regulations that apply to the bank’s business and how these laws and regulations have been applied in the past to other banks and their staff.
