Research Guidelines
What you MUST use
2. Sources that are credible. Most books, newspapers and magazines are credible, especially if you find them in the university library. Not all sources are credible, though, so be careful that your source is not biased. Scholarly journals are very good sources of credible information. Be very careful about websites. Anyone can make a website, even criminals and 10-year-old children. Simply having a name attached does not mean the source is credible. The best websites are ones that end with .org, but many .com and .net websites are good. It can be difficult to know if a website is credible. Look and see if it links or cites other credible sources. It looks real, but it is a comedy news website that uses fake stories.
3. Sources that have an author. All credible research has a name attached to it because researchers want credit for their hard work. The only exception is when a source, like an institution, is very credible and posts information without a name. For example, the World Health Organization (WHO) is very credible and well-known. If the WHO posts information without an author, you could use it.#p#分页标题#e#
4. Primary sources. If you see an article or website that uses a citation for its research, be sure to go to that primary source. Cite the original researcher, not a person that simply repeats the information.
We will study works-cited pages later. Email Mr. Kienzle if you have a question about a source or its reliability. |
