---------------------------- In the first essay, tell a story—and tell a story that only you can tell. This essay should be descriptive and told in a straightforward and sincere way. This probably sounds strange, since these are essays for business school, but we don’t expect to hear about your business experience in this essay (though, of course, you are free to write about whatever you would like). Remember that we have your entire application—work history, letters of reference, short-answer responses, etc.—to learn what you have accomplished and the type of impact you have made. Your task in this first essay is to connect the people, situations, and events in your life with the values you adhere to and the choices you have made. This essay gives you a terrific opportunity to learn about yourself! Many good essays describe the "what," but great essays move to the next order and describe how and why these "whats" have influenced your life. The most common mistake applicants make is spending too much time describing the "what" and not enough time describing how and why these guiding forces have shaped your behavior, attitudes, and objectives in your personal and professional lives. 关于Harvard, Stanford and Yale 专门针对College Senior 的 MBA Program的一点介绍 美国各地许多顶级商学院也在招收更年轻、经验更少的考生。打造更年轻学生群体的举措，是商学项目提升申请人数、阻止其它研究生项目（如法律和公共政策项目）与自己争夺顶尖学生努力的一部分。其它研究生项目一般对申请者的工作经验没有要求。
据我所知,有专门针对college senior MBA的项目有三家: HarvardBusiness School(HBS) 2+2, StanfordGraduate School of Business(GSB) College Senior Deferral and Yale School of Management(SOM) SilverScholars Program, 对于关心排名的同学, 这三家2012 US News Full Time MBA的排名分别是: HBS(Tied No.1) Stanford(Tied No.1) Yale(No.10)#p#分页标题#e# 我也认识有同学被这两家同时Wait List的, 被HBS and GSB同时wait list的 …也有认识被HBS Rej ,Yale Wait List 但进入 Stanford的, 所以很难说这三个项目哪个最难进，更多的应该是fit 与 not fit的问题。 按申请者人数肯定是HBS最多，但HBS招100个 2+2, Stanford and Yale 招的人数都在10人以下 Harvard Business School(HBS) 2+2
这里是去年(只有summer round)的申请 statistics:
可惜我并不认识任何一个被2+2录取的中国人，但倒是认识几个美国人，下面这些情况是听他们讲的：
GPA/GMAT: 这100人里绝大部分是超级牛校（但也有不是那么顶尖的学校的学生获得录取的），并且成绩很不错，如果你Extracurricular(E/C) 和实习都不是特别给力的话，那么这个必须要高，今年有个MITGPA 5.0/5.0 的牛人被2+2录取,也有个Penn本拿到HBS2+2/Harvard Law School双录取的人，准备先McKinsey两年再去Harvard读MBA/JD双学位 Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) College Senior Deferral GSB的这个项目似乎很低调，也没有怎么向大众market,和HBS的项目非常类似，但更灵活,可以是0+2, 1+2, 2+2 or 3+2, 换句话说你可以选择defer一年两年或者三年，当然你也可申请直接入读，但难度非常非常大，Stanford每年大概只给1-2人offer,大概都是创业行天才吧 当然如果你选择defer admissionoption难度也不小（个人感觉更甚于HBS），据消息获得deferadmission的每年也不超过10人（GSBclass size 比 HBS小很多）,我的一个深中学妹非常牛的获得这个项目的offer(深圳中学威武有木有！！！！) 学妹GPA/GMAT都非常不错，在美国某top20大学读本，E/C活动非常的丰富，我一直认为我在美本中E/C算不错的了，但在看了她的credentials后完全有一种双眼被亮瞎的感觉，在她学校获各种大奖，最近还要开个人画展了，她的志向是创业，在P.S里也是这样写的，这和GSB的brand很接近，个人认为也间接帮了她 GSB的interview很多都是校友面的，包括这个项目，学妹的interview基本属于聊天性质的，interviewer很nice,当然这得看人品，如果给你遇到个。。。。。。。 在GSB College Deferral OfficialFacebook里面学妹说基本都是top 20 big u +top 10 LAC 的人，可能不是top school毕业的申请这个项目还是有一定难度的 Stanford不公布这个program的statistics, probably the sample size is just too small
Yale School of Management (SOM) Silver Scholars Program 该项目是YaleSchool of Management(SOM)为大学应届毕业生提供的一项为期三年的MBA项目, 项目里的学生叫做Silver Scholar.学生们大学一毕业便参与该项目，第一年时间用于培养基本的商业技能。第二年，他们会去某家公司进行全职实习。多数学生都会实习一年时间，也有些学生实习两年，还有些学生会在多家公司参与多个实习。最后一年，学生们将完成该MBA项目， 并在商学院选修一些课程。毕业后于耶鲁其他MBA一起竞争associate level position. 这个项目从07年开始对所有本科学生开放（以前只对耶鲁本科生 ），每年会有5-10个silver scholars 进入耶鲁学习，好消息是耶鲁是个很Chinese Friendly 的学校，所以每年都会有0-2个中国人以silver scholar的身份进入Yale SOM学习,这其中也有从国内Top2大学过来的学生。 现在在读海外本的同学也应该都有机会，虽然Silver Scholars超级名校出身的挺多，但也有些非超级名校的同学获得录取 我知道今年获得录取的有一个美国top LAC的美国人（大一就有自己公司了）一个LSE毕业的越南女孩(GPA基本满分) 前几届有NYU Stern的，top LAC的，UBC的。。。。 推荐信一封应该来自教授一封应该来自实习的supervisoror E/C 的advisor.#p#分页标题#e# Silver ScholarProgram由教授和senior admission staff 专门组成的admissioncommittee来审核，他们非常看重applicant的职业兴趣和成熟度(GPA/GMAT高的申请者太多了他们可以随便选)，毕竟silverscholar 要和比他们大好几岁的人在同一个课堂上课以及一起参加课外生活。 面试：面试官会是两到三个人，一定会有个seniorrank professor, 整个面试非常focus on your resume and two questions: Why MBA right now and what you can bring to Yale School of Management? 特别是whyMBA,如果这个问题答不好的话基本上就和offer说再见了。如果你本科是学经济或者学商的，你也有可能被问到一些technicalquestions or case study … 和Stanford一样，Yale不公部这个program的 statistics , 可能还是samplesize太小的问题，就8个人统计起来可能意义不大
我知道的情况基本就这么多，很多人认为进入这些program是件很牛的事情，从某总意义上可能是的，但以两年甚至没有工作经验的身份进入topMBA学习的确是件很大的劣势，很多人argue有足够的社会历练和工作经验去读MBA才能最大限度的发挥出MBA的效果,this may be true. 所以我觉得申请这些项目的同学们一定要想好这些问题再申请，如果你足够优秀足够focus并且有清晰的职业目标thenthese programs may be perfect for you
更新下我知道的情况
这一届 Silver Scholar大概有六人，两个中国人，一个越南女孩(LSE本），其他三个是美国人 面试的问题五花八门了， 其中有人被问到 " What's Jeremy Lin's Number?" 也有人被问到Case study, economic theory ....
